Go back and reread the book I gave you. I have seen for myself how some of the major people in your life dismiss your accomplishments and I am sad for them because you are a wonderful person and you have a lot to be proud of! Toxic people are just that way and you are not going to change them; so move on with your loving family and enjoy life as it was meant to be. I think that maybe your anger is with yourself for not being able to let go. God loves you, your husband and kids love you, and we love you!

Advice to My Daughter-in-Law ....
People come and people go, but you will ALWAYS know who your true friends are. You can pick your friends but you can't pick your family so, as the AA saying goes ... "God grant me the Serenity: To accept the things I cannot change; Courage to change the things I can; and Wisdom to know the difference."

There are people who care about you - the numbers don't matter but the feelings do. Every one has different types of friends - those they can always count on - those they go to church with - those from work - some one to go shopping with - some one to confide in.

If you're lucky this might be one person or many. I guess what I'm saying is different people have different roles in your life but it's up to you to choose them and control the roles they play.

I know that you have had a bad year and 2011 is going to look better. Just tweak your outlook a little bit and call on those who truly care.

Oh man, I hope she listens closely. Yes, we all have to go through pain and heartache but with each one we, hopefully, grow a little more. I already see her as a strong girl and know that she will be a stronger woman. Just hope she learns to talk more (LOL) and listens with her heart. Good advice mom!

Oh Lisa, Lisa, Lisa. If you're going to celebrate your life (birthday), celebrate it in a happy manner. Wish I were home - we'd go shopping! Not sure what you mean by "The fear of what happened, who I was, who I could have been, what others thought, and the emptiness is overwhelming". How is it overwhelming? I'm sure that there is a lot I don't know about you but ... as you say, past is past and you can only control the future. There are parts of all of our lives that we wish we could go back to, change for one reason or another, and we wish we could really see what the future brings, especially the older you get LOL. Celebrate your birthday by giving yourself a break girl; trust in yourself and your choices, believe in God, and be thankful for a great family and good friends. CELEBRATE LIFE .... I love you .... Kudos! Not only for registering the thoughts in your mind, but for sharing them! It's amazing what girls put themselves through! From the first day we are old enough to recognize the images in the grocery store magazines we start learning what we are expected to be. There is such a massive descrepancy between the "ideal" and the "real"; not to mention what it is men truely desire (all men I've dated don't want sticks!)
I think all women struggle with their confidence and body image. Even the "hottest" woman you know is unsure of her self and envious of the other women. It's pushed in our face by every womens magaznine: "you are not perfect, here are some tips to get a little closer to that perfection" LOL The love of a good man that loves you for you, no matter what your body does, is the most precious self esteem boost!

Hang in there. I had headaches since like 7th grade! When I went to college a neurologist put me on all kinds of meds. Eventually, I just stopped taking them (as my nurse wouldn't give me "the pill" while I was on them) and tried other things: diet, exercise, and a boyfriend that gave neck massages ;-) Thankfully, I've never gotten full blown miraines, but I still struggle with headaches now and then. Sugar is the worst!

I loved tag after dark.... We used to play that when we had power outages so it was really dark w/ no street lights. The best was hide-n-seek in the dark. Problem was that no matter what I always had to pee when I was hiding... so the bathroom became my best hiding place.
The kids love when we play hide and seek in the dark, the seeker gets a flashlight.
